Bodegas Atalaya Almansa 2012

Winemaker's Notes:

90 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): (85% garnacha tintorera and 15% monastrell; aged for a year in French oak): Dark purple. Assertive aromas of oak-spiced blackberry, dark chocolate and pungent flowers. Plush, round and sweet, with a spicy nuance adding complexity to cherry-vanilla and dark berry compote flavors. This broad, seamless wine finishes with sneaky tannins, a touch of vanilla and very good persistence. (Sep/Oct 2014)

Tintorera Garnacha grapes come from vineyards and Monastrell area Almansa between 700 and 1,000 meters, planted in sandy soils with high limestone concentration at its base. The grapes are fermented separately yielding a wine of great complexity after spending 12 months in French oak barrels. - Winery Blend: 85% Grenache 15% Mourvedre Tintorera
