Bodegas Antaño Tempranillo Blend Rioja 2008

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Deep and intense on the nose with sweet toasty oak and jammy black raspberry fruit. With air one senses notes of leather, underbrush and maraschino cherry. Nice and fresh feeling entry then this turns a bit dense and inky, a bit extracted but not particularly ripe. The tannins are a touch green early on but the fruit, a bit dark and earthy fills in the mid-palate. The finish reveals a touch of black cherry skin, which recedes rather quickly. This is a rather austere, yet well made wine with a good mouthfeel though it lacks some fruit and ends up being rather stoic. 83pts

Dear, that's a serious wine! Really present but no invading flavors remaining. As usual with Rioja wine it is sweet and smooth but strong in structure. This delicate flavour will underscore any dishes, I have even tryed it with fish and it always brings some sweet and spicy taste that makes the difference. Very traditional wine, natural and easy to drink, you don't have to prepare the bottle for hours before drinking.
