Bodegas Alto Moncayo Garnacha Campo de Borja 2004

Winemaker's Notes:

Tasting Notes :Dark ruby with an opaque core, this lovely wine reveals aromas of raspberry, blackberry, pepper, spices, and minerals with scents of aromatic herbs, and mocha/cacao on the nose. Spending 24 months in new French oak, the wine is soft and lush on the attack, and offers pure dark fruit flavors, round tannins and a long persistent finish. Still very young and requires at least a couple of years of aging.

Big wine. Interesting mocha/chocolate, dark berries. This is a crowd pleaser.

Rich and heady, this plush red delivers blackberry, dried cherry, chocolate, cola and mountain herb flavors, with heat and spice on the finish. Distinctive and expressive. Drink now through 2010. 475 cases made. -TM Wine Spectator. A Grenache wine from Aragon in Spain. 2004 Alto Moncayo, Bodegas Alto Moncayo Veraton 750ml

Coming from the Alto Moncayo winery in the Campo de Borja region of north-central Spain, this is old vine Garnacha at its best. Deep ruby color, a nose brimming with blackberries, vanilla, and espresso, and spicy berry notes on the palate. All we can say is WOW!
