Unlike any other Argentinian malbec i have ever had. If Cahors and Burgundy had a baby. i can't say I enjoyed this, but it was definitely interesting.
I had the opportunity to drink this Malbec at e18teen restaurant in Ottawa, which has placed it on its "something interesting" wine list. I found the tannins to be quite forward when the bottle was initially opened, but the wine smoothed out after about 10 minutes in the glass. I think that if decanted, this wine would fool a lot of drinkers because it tastes way above its price point. I agree with the comment about this being a child of Cahors - I drink a lot of Cahors and if you like robust wine, this one is for you.
Most important of the user´s tags : drink now. Because if you wait any longer you´ll end up drinking vinagre. On the nose bit odd but nice. But when taking a sip : ouch ! Dry ! Very ! Dry Fruits (blue berries, plums) and tobacco. Thank god I had some good meat with it. Not any of my favorites. Maybe it was a good drinker in 2006.
Tannins are still firm and the sweetness is offset by a pleasant tartness. I would think that this bottle could sit for another two years and still be pleasant. I don't know if the last reviewer had a bad bottle, but I don't find it dry at all. I am also drinking this unpaired with any food, and it is still pleasant.

Combining aromas of leather and earth with notes of sweet cherries and cinnamon, this potent red is deep and densely textured, its structure robust. It will soften up with a few more years in bottle. Score - 90.

Malbec has the substance to be aged for decades, and this bottle proves it. This wine is just coming into its own, showing all of its Old World character. The palate is full of warm spices, eucalyptus, and blackberries. All in all this is a revelation; not many people have tasted Argentine wine like this.
Weinerts first vintage in the renovated winery and bottled in 1998. Harvest was delayed by a month because the facility wasn’t complete which allowed the grapes to ripen further. Elements of earth, spice and aged wood blended with dried fruit show in the evolved nose. The palate is generous, vibrant and tangy. Amazing.
