Bodega Weinert Malbec 2004
Unlike any other Argentinian malbec i have ever had. If Cahors and Burgundy had a baby. i can't say I enjoyed this, but it was definitely interesting.
I had the opportunity to drink this Malbec at e18teen restaurant in Ottawa, which has placed it on its "something interesting" wine list. I found the tannins to be quite forward when the bottle was initially opened, but the wine smoothed out after about 10 minutes in the glass. I think that if decanted, this wine would fool a lot of drinkers because it tastes way above its price point. I agree with the comment about this being a child of Cahors - I drink a lot of Cahors and if you like robust wine, this one is for you.

A rich and sumptuous Malbec showing all the black fruit and spicy oak you could want in a full-bodied, Argentine wine. This fruit-forward offering will delight you on a cold night or with steaks on the grill.
Combining aromas of leather and earth with notes of sweet cherries and cinnamon, this potent red is deep and densely textured, its structure robust. It will soften up with a few more years in bottle. Score - 90.
