Food Pairings for Bodega Ruca Malén Chardonnay
The bouquet is bright a fruity with a tiny hint of clove, and these flavors continue into the wine itself, which is grapier than your average malbec but a little chalky around the edges. (AV 85, http://argovino.com/?p=427)
Great Wine - One of the best I tasted in a recent trip to Argentina.
While I am not good at descriptions I can say that I recently tasted this wine at the Ruca Malen restaurant at the winery itself and found the pairing with vegetables, potatoes and pesto--accompanying medallions of roast lamb and a Ruca Malen Malbec 2007--to be superb. The fruit and vegetable aroma noted by WineChateau.com are borne out in my experience.

The 2006 Malbec contains 10% Petit Verdot and 4% Tempranillo in the blend. Seventy percent of the wine was aged in oak, 10% new, for 12-14 months. The nose offers up cedar, smoke, blueberry and black cherry leading to an elegant expression of Malbec with light tannin, excellent balance, and 1-2 years of aging potential. Drink this tasty effort through 2016.
Sight: intense and brilliant dark red color.Nose: delicious and complex with aroma of blackberries and ripe cherries, pepper and roasted redand green pepper. Touches of mocha cream, black pepper and coffee, which remind of its oakageing.
A full-bodied red blend made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. Spends 10 months in barrel adding complexities of cedars and vanilla. Full of black candied aromas, pure dark chocolate and mineral on the finish.
Deep red with violet hues. In the nose it shows black fruit that could remind usthe blackberry and some dried fruit such as figs. Black pepper starts showing after a while. Inthe mouth it is rounded and very elegant with sweet tannins and a vibrant acidity. Long andpersistent after taste enhancing the fruit and the chocolate from the ageing.
Rich, powerful yet elegant is the best way to describe this powerhouse chardonnay from Mendoza. With a nose that reminds one of top quality Chablis: green apple, pear, minerals and a hint of honey; the richness and creaminess of this wine is nicely off set by the surprising refreshing acidity. Very nicely done.
Vivid blue hues emerge from the deep burgundy color. On the nose, it shows black fruit, particularly cassis, with smoky notes that further enhance the aroma. It shows good concentration and great volume with balanced acidity and great intensity on the palate, packed with small rounded tannins that give the wine a good texture. The finish is long and persistent, complex and elegant.
