Just tried this wine over Thanksgiving holiday. The restaurant ran out of the wine we had previously been drinking and suggested this fabulous Malbec as a substitute. What a great find......smooth, rich with spice and berries, just enough fruit. Asking my local source to purchase at their store.
Very dark, intense color. Lots of black fruit, pepper and spice. Very nicely balanced, with controlled tannins. Terrific nose, and a long finish. I like smoky Malbecs, but this had very little smoke flavors, which I didn't miss at all. I had this with some very good turkey chili I made with chocolate for a great mole flavor and it paired wonderfully. And it was also terrific by itself. Not the most complex Malbec I've had, but still a very enjoyable wine and a very good value. Definitely decant.
Fragrant and balanced with notes of currants and spice. Very easy to drink. This is one of the better values I've come across recently and about as much complexity as you'll find for $10. Would not decant this. Despite initial appearances it is actually not all that big and will become uninteresting quickly if left out.
"Punto Final Malbec is the true expression of the potential of Mendoza's terroir, and it represents a blend of Malbecs from different regions, altitudes and climates. The result is a wine that incorporates the best of each unique terroir. Deep ruby red in color with notes of blackberry, blueberry and cassis. On the palate, the wine is balanced and round, with a jammy mouthfeel and a long finish. Pair with steak, pasta with meat sauce, risotto, lamb and cheeses." -Importer
