Bodega O. Fournier Malbec Urban Oak Argentina Cuyo Mendoza Uco Valley Red 2008

Member Review by CageyT:

I continue to enjoy Malbec in all of its dark glory. Married to Tempranillo, Malbec approaches its higher flying Bordeaux brethren in complexity and drinkability. This wine is a nice balance of fruit and dry leather flavors-- no fruit bomb here, but still just sweet enough to counter the dry factor. Great with steak on the grill.

The 2008 Urban Uco Malbec was aged for 3 months in barrel. A glass-coating opaque purple, it has a nose offering up spice box, incense, and black cherry. Ripe and sweetly-fruited, it has intense flavors, excellent depth, and a lengthy finish. Drink it over the next 4 years. Fresh and pure, with a juicy beam of dark raspberry and boysenberry fruit intertwined with floral and anise hints. There's a nice supple finish. Delicious. Drink now. 3,000 cases imported. -JM
