Dark and opaque, with compact aromas of rubbery blackberry and controlled oak. Feels flush and grabby, with staunch tannins and creamy, toasty flavors accenting core blackberry and cassis. This seems more barrel-influenced the longer it airs out. A generous wine to drink now through 2015.

Glass-staining ruby. Pungent, expressive scents of cherry compote and dark berries, pipe tobacco and incense. Creamy cherry and blackcurrant flavors are lifted by gentle minerality and pick up a mocha element with air. Shows very good energy on the finish, leaving cherry-vanilla and violet notes behind.

Numanthia is located in the Toro region of Spain. Its four vineyards are located along the south bank of the Duero River. The wine is named after a legendary Spanish city that was destroyed (after 20 yrs of resistance) by Roman legions.

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2009 Numanthia Termes is known for it's freshness and fruit vibrancy! Coming from vineyards situated in Valdefinjas and Toro this 2009 vintage wine is bright cherry-red, with light purple tones. Aromas like blueberry, plum, vanilla and hints of balsamic culminate in a deliciously long and lively finish. Pair this wine with dishes like suckling lamb, cold-cut meats, and blue cheeses
