Food Pairings for Bodega Numanthia Termes Toro
Whoa--inky dark almost black in the glass. Fairly oaky aromas. Interesting--very little pereivable fruit on the tip of the tongue. You can "taste" the tannin, but there really is not much there. I think this wine is ageable, but I really don't think there will be much reward, there. US$23.99 about a year ago
Roasty, toasted nose of red, black and even some blue fruits. Some aromas also of dark chocolate and oak. Bold flavors of blackberry and currant with smoke and mineral, along with cedar, spice box, violets, espresso and blackberry. Savory and concentrated with firm tannin structure. Tart, strong acid up front. Big minerality. For me, the acid needs to relax a bit, perhaps in a couple more years in bottle. 3/3/12

External Reviews for Bodega Numanthia Termes Toro
A vibrant garnet color with flashes of violet. Nose full of ripe blackberries, currants and warm summer raspberries with hints of thyme and vanilla. Young assertive tannins are balance by a touch of chocolate on the long finish.
WS 91pts. - According to the Wine Spectator: This bold red matches ripe blackberry and currant flavors with toast, dark chocolate and oak notes. The tannins are firm and well-integrated, and the smoky mineral note is alluring. Drink now through 2016.
Produced from super low yields and boasting powerful concentration, Numanthia will not let you down. This wine comes from 70-100 year old Tinta del Toro vines (the local name for Tempranillo) and exhibits flavors of bittersweet chocolate and earth. Drink now, or hold for decades to come.
Fresh and intense fruity aromas (raspberry, red currant, cherry) well integrated to a flower touch (violets, lavender) with a gentle spices & eucalyptus touch. The aromatic experience continues, the mouthfeel is silky and vibrant. After a persistent and intense attack, and explosion of fruit, the end of mouth is long and complex with spices, tobacco, raspberries and blackberries notes. Drink till 2025.
