With this number, the Mendoza Bodega Norton has come up with a clear winner in both quality and value. We have a deep, dense and powerful wine dominated by the plummy, blackcurrant flavors of the 3 principal cepages used in the blend. The Malbec lends some nice rusticity without detracting from the overall sense of quality. Oak is also well integrated, and the wine might even improve with another year or two in the bottle. Excellent red for roast beef, barbecue or sitting by the fire on a cool autumn evening. Recommended!

Decent and drinkable, ripe red fruits and spice, very little oak. A little brighter and less dry than some similar California blends, the fruit and spice complemented veal sweetbreads nicely.

Forward, with slightly jammy raspberry and black cherry fruit, pushed by bright floral notes and plenty of sweet licorice and spice flavors. Vanilla-tinged toast frames the finish.
