Strong earthy, smoke nose. strong body with spicy dark berries and again, earthy and loamy. Long lingering finish. Will buy again, at least 1/2 case maybe more, while this excellent malbec can still be found at a decent price...

Very ripe and very primal still, delivering a large core of velvety-textured raspberry, fig and boysenberry fruit that is liberally laced with dark toast, pastis and roasted vanilla. Should settle in nicely with modest cellaring, as the structure is dense, but polished and integrated. Drink now through 2011.

Deep red colour with hints of purple. Expressive on the nose with notes of ripe black fruits, violets, and tobacco. Long finish.

Glass-coating purple color; slightly roasted character, hint of balsamic, lavender, black fruits.

Full ruby. Sexy claret-like aromas of plum, currant, graphite and chocolatey oak. Sweet and easygoing, with plum and currant fruit complemented by oak. In a slightly reductive style, finishing with broad tannins and a touch of oaky bitterness.

Winemaker's Notes:

In 1885, the Buenos Aires to Mendoza railway opened, cementing the significance of this emerging wine-growing region high in the Andean foothills. Ten years later, Edmund Norton planted the first vines in Mendoza’s Luján de Cuyo district. At 900-1100 metres, the altitude moderates the temperature, causing an extended ripening season, and also expose the vines to more ultraviolet light, which encourages the development of colour and tannin in the black-skinned varieties. The result is whites packed with vibrant flavour and good natural acidity, and well-structured, food-friendly reds. The Reserva Malbec is an intesne red colour with purple hints. It is rounded and velvety, with notes of ripe black fruits, violets, pices and tobacco. It has a long and complex finish.
