Wine Advocate Review
Rated 92
The entry-level 2006 Malbec was sourced from a 78-year-old estate vineyard, aged for 12 months in 40% new French oak, and bottled without fining or filtration. Purple-colored, it exhibits an impressive nose of wood smoke, tobacco, rose petal, blueberry, and black raspberry. This leads to a medium-bodied wine in which notes of cola, coffee, and caramel emerge on the palate. Elegantly styled, with racy flavors, good balance, and a pure finish, it will evolve for 2-3 years read more...

Didn't feel there was anything special about this wine to compel me to drink it again.

DEC 08 ISSUE - 91 PTS FROM WINE SPECTATOR! - Nicely layered with warm fig sauce, mocha, crushed raspberry and boysenberry fruit and a long, dark, spice- and espresso-tinged finish. Powerful but balanced. Should age nicely. Best from 2009 through 2012. 3,500 cases made. ûJM NOV 08 ISSUE

Wine Tasting NotesIncredible dark red/purple color. The aromas of sweet French oak and espresso get more complex with every swirl of the glass, unveiling black raspberry, blueberry and rose petal aromas. The wine is full-bodied, dense, deep and chewy with flavors of black raspberry, plums, cola, roasted coffee and caramel notes. Definitely a youngster with plenty of ripe tannins for structure, but this beauty could be enjoyed now with a nice ribeye steak or leg of lamb since it shows incredible balance for such a concentrated wine.
