Bodega Catena Zapata Malbec Alta Angelica Vineyard 2008
The Catena Alta Malbec presents a dark, opaque violet color, almost black in hue. The nose offers freshly ground, ripe berry fruits with layers of violet flowers, cinnamon spice and a touch of lavander. The mouthfeel is full and coating, with exceptional weight and concentration but with a soft, supple texture. The mid palate offers rich cassis and black currant fruit flavors interwoven with hints of chocolate, vanilla and black pepper. The lengthy finish shows wonderful minerality, with finely grained tannins and lively acidity.
Fleshy with raspberry and blackberry, and a light oak and spice. Drink it now, but let it breathe... By far, my FAVORITE from Bodega Catena Zapata!

Food Pairings for Bodega Catena Zapata Malbec Alta Angelica Vineyard
Angélica Zapata Malbec Alta 2008 is a blend of Malbec grapes sourced from different vineyards. The result is a wine of great concentration and elegance. The “Angélica” vineyard offers ripe plum jammy flavors with a soft, supple mouthfeel. “La Pirámide” lends intense black berry fruit with spicy black pepper and clove. “Altamira” provides elegance and freshness on the palate with a flavor profile of red berry fruit. Lot 3 from “Adrianna” is intensely floral, with hints of violets and lavender, while lot 9 provides a deeply violet color and a long persistent finish of cassis flavors and mineral notes. These five elements contribute to wonderful complexity in the final blend.. Alejandro Vigil, Chief Winemaker.
