What to Expect
Tannat is a grape most frequently associated with the Madiran region of France, though it has become increasingly successful in South America, particularly Uruguay. It produces a rich, rustic wine with considerable tannins and a smoky, spicy character that adds complexity to its deep tones of black raspberry fruit.
Winemakers Notes
Winemaker: Dr. Eduardo Boido. 55% Tannat, 25% Merlot and 20% Tempranillo blend. The vinification of the three varieties was done separately. Aging of the three varieties done separately as well, during 18 months in American and French medium toasted oak barrels. Red wine of intense color. In the nose remarks the fruit, plums, and fresh cherries, with notes of quince jelly and vanilla. In the mouth it shows dry, with marked acidity and soft tannins. Long last ending. Will drink well through 2016.
