Food Pairings for Blue Mountain Pinot Gris
Good growing conditions in 2012 have produced an excellent result in this Pinot Gris. The nose is reminiscent of gooseberry, subtle garden flowers (heather) and a hint of anise. In the mouth, there are sharp mineral flavors, aniseed and a green table grape stuffing. Warm, slightly spicy but balanced and even elegant. 88 points.
A wonderfully fresh mountain air nose - very similar to Pinot Grigio from Alto-Adige (Trentino). The effect on the palate is similarly whistle-clean; there is, however more extraction than in examples from Italy, Alsace or Germany with a comfortable almond-like drizzle over a deeper, more dense peach confit finish. This baby will age 2-4 more years and has the depth and character of a fine chardonnay. Well done.
