After enduring the frustration of a corked bottle, this wine finally comes through without a hitch. Canola oil yellow in colour with a nose of Granny Smith Apple, Bartlett Pear and a hint of cinnimon, the wine does not disappoint. Less extracted than previous vintages due, no doubt, in part to a cool growing season, there are some elements of fine apple cider and Calvados (heat). Very Chardonnay-like with a nice slightly unctuous viscosity and depth; no hollowness often associated with this wine mid-palate. Good medium finish. Very nice. 89-90 points.

IMHO, this signature wine of the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia made from a normally neutral grape is, in the hands of the Mavety family, evocative of the many signals of a cool climate Chardonnay: light color and a refreshing, cleansing acidity on the palate - perfect for British Columbia seafood such as Hornby Island garlic prawns right out of the trap. Apple and pear predominate with lively acid leading to a medium finish that kicks everything up a notch further than expectation. Excellent expression of the grape and the region.

Gooseberry, unripe cranberry and Bartlett Pear waft from the glass in this very fruit-dominant expression of Pinot Blanc. Fresh acidity and more gooseberry, pear and Granny Smith apple on the palate for a refreshing, mouth-cleansing, but balanced sipper. This is about as good as you get from North America in this variety; this wine has vibrancy, slate-dry minerality and none of the dead muteness of the more regular Alsatian examples. Something to emulate in BC and should be a signature grape in the region.
