Husband and wife team Sarah and Sparky Marquis are well known for making award winning wines for Fox Creek, Henry's Drive, Parsons Flat, Shirvington and Marquis Philips. This fun loving and inspiring couple now focuses exclusively on producing their own Mollydooker Wines. Their motto is ‘We make wines which make people go WOW, through attention to detail and commitment to excellence.’ They guarantee the intense fruit flavors and quality of their wines by rating them on their Marquis Fruit Weight™ scale, and rejecting those which they don’t consider good enough for their consumers. This dedication and devotion to their craft has earned them the title of Australian Winemakers of the Year and produced a Wine Spectator Top 10 Wine of the Year two years in a row and five wines that have scored 99-points from Robert Parker of the The Wine Advocate. Intense smokey meat flavors on the nose. Jammy, rich plum flavors on the palate. Fantastic wine.

This wine is still young and backward, but has lots of promise. The nose is closed at uncorking, and doesn’t reveal much for the first hour. After an hour, a pleasant assortment of aromas take their turns on the stage, starting with cinnamon, smoke, tobacco, wood, dusty loam, and crushed minerals. At two hours, an array of dark berries, plus cherry and a hint of jasmine, intermingle. The palate begins tight and astringent, but broadens at an hour to display a medley of fruit and floral flavors. Bitterness begins to mellow as a fruity center emerges, and at two hours, the palate opens further, now including cherry, blackberry and rich plum on a medium finish through which the fruit lingers and dominates. A pleasant acidity helps the wine maintain a tasty tang on the back.

They have crafted incredible fruit weight on the mid-palate with flavors reminiscent of black cherry reduction, red currant jelly, blueberry compote, mocha, wild blackberry pie, bacon fat, and suggestions of dark chocolate shavings. The combination of mid-palate viscosity and acidity makes this more than inviting and rather intoxicating. Drink this rich beauty over the next decade.(Best 2016-2026)"

he delicious berry fruit and spice flavours of the cooler climate grapes from the Joppich Vineyard in Langhorne Creek gives the Blue Eyed Boy its crowd appeal. We blend it with McLaren Vale Shiraz to add intensity, vibrancy and richness. This year the McLaren Vale fruit came from the Gateway and Kirwin Vineyards and was picked on 3-10 March. The Joppich fruit was picked on 24-27 March. - Winery Region: 50% McLaren Vale 50% Langhorne Creek Barrel fermented and matured: 100% American oak; 83% new; 17% one year old Alc/Vol: 16.5% Residual sugar: 4.6 pH: 3.69 ** Only 11 in Stock **

This wine is a perennial favorite and the outstanding 2012 vintage does not disappoint. Another 92 point score from the Wine Spectator who said "Ink-dark, with a savory edge to the layers of black cherry, red plum, raspberry and licorice that rise up from the velvety tannins, forming a generous, plush finish. Best from 2016 through 2020."
