User Reviews for Bloom Riesling
Add your reviewNice Riesling from Bloom. It's very sweet on the nose with honeysuckle, but the palate is nicely balanced between sweet and acid. As with most Rieslings, this is great with spicy food.
Can't say I agree with some other reviewers here. To me it's drinkable, but that's about it. There's a floral note and some very faint apple on the nose. Apples and pears on the palate, but they're both faint and it seems a tad "watered down". Also, there is a distinct alcohol kick on the finish which is not usual for German style riesling. Someone else said in their review that this was well balanced. I disagree. Perhaps it is acid/sugar wise but it lacks flavor, nose and has too much heat at the end. This is the epitome of unbalanced. In and of itself it's not a horrible wine. For the price you could get much worse than this. However, in comparison to other German rieslings, and this is a GERMAN riesling, it falls flat on its face. I've had tafelwein that was far better than this, and this is supposed to be a qualitatswein, a full quality level higher by German label standards. Sorry, but I can only give this 1.5 glasses. Even as cheap as it is, I will not be buying more. You can spend a mere $3 more per bottle and get a German riesling that will knock the socks off of this one. I say pass.
Crisp and refreshing. A perfect wine to serve on those hot summer afternoons.
