- You can count the number of Nova Scotian grown Chardonnay’s on one hand, and still have several fingers left over. But if the early examples are a sign of what’s to come, as more of the province’s young Chardonnay vineyards come into mature production, the world’s most popular varietal may have found a suitable home in Atlantic Canada. The Blomidon Estate Chardonnay is a beautiful example of balance and grace -- but by no means is it a lightweight. The wine’s complexity immediately makes itself known from the nose, which offers wonderful ripe citrus and stone fruit aromas, laced with read more...subtle notes of oak and butterscotch. The well developed fruit characteristics carry through to the palate which is broad but not fat, with a judicious use of complementary oak -- just as a well made cool-climate Chardonnay should be. Most impressive is this wine’s exceptional acid balance which threads all the elements of complexity together in a nice tight package. (hide)
