Bleasdale Cabernet Sauvignon Langhorne Creek Mulberry Tree 2010

External Review:

Opaque ruby. Musky cherry and redcurrant on the nose, with spicy notes of cracked pepper and mace adding complexity. Sweet, deep red berry and cherry flavors are enlivened by a racy mineral quality. The spiciness gains strength on the finish, which is alluringly sweet and persistent. Bleasdales flagship Frank Potts bottling was not made in 2007 so all of that juice went into this low-priced wine. The 2007 Mulberry Tree Cabernet Sauvignon was aged for 18 months in a mix of seasoned French and American oak. Enticing aromas of cedar, spice box, violets, and black currant lead to a mouth-filling, moderately structured Cabernet with good depth and a pure finish. Drink it now through 2017. ** SOLD OUT **

I got this wine at Dorns in Gainesville, FL as a 1/2 bottle for $8.99. The wine was decent but a little rough around the edges like the Australian outback (and the fellows on the label). The Syrah from the same winemaker is a lot better.

Deep ruby color. Spicy redcurrant and cherry aromas are complicated by cracked pepper and musky herbs. Supple cherry and red berry preserve flavors betray no rough edges or tannins. Finishes sweet, broad and long. Id enjoy this now for its suave fruit. The 2006 Mulberry Tree Cabernet Sauvignon was sourced from a vineyard most of which is 80-90 years of age. It was aged for 12 months in a mix of new and used French and American oak. It delivers an enticing perfume of cedar, mineral, scorched earth, black currant, and blackberry. This is followed by an elegant wine with good integration of oak, tannin, and acidity, a seamless palate feel, and excellent length. It will evolve for 1-2 years and be at its best from 2010 to 2018. ** SOLD OUT **

The outstanding 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Mulberry Tree is a terrific bargain. It reveals notes of spice box, cedar, black currants, and tobacco in a medium to full-bodied, dense, rich format. With sweet tannin along with well-integrated wood and acidity, this plump, fleshy, well-made Cabernet should drink well for 7-8 years. It doesn't take a genius to realize that a $15 Cabernet Sauvignon of this quality is nearly impossible to find domestically.

Ripe, supple and remarkably generous with its sweet currant, black cherry and deftly minty aromas and flavors, which echo beautifully on the round finish. Drink now through 2007.

Loaded with gobs of sweet black currant fruit, this has tremendous depth and length at a terrific price. Juicy and flavorful, yet maintaining the firm tannic structure classically associated with the grape. It always goes back to the concept that Cab is king, and when you get this quality at this price point, you jump all over it, no questions asked.
