Bleasdale Cabernet Sauvignon Langhorne Creek Mulberry Tree 2004

External Review by Premier Wine & Spirits:

Medium red. Pretty, nicely focused bouquet of spicy red fruits, dried flowers and minerals. Poised and elegant, with vibrant red fruit flavors and notes of dried herbs and baking spices. There's a suave, supple quality here that's reminiscent of traditional Bordeaux. Finishes on a sweet, spicy cherry note, with silky tannins.

A full-bodied cabernet with rich flavors of currant, black cherry and a hint of mint. The seductive flavors combine to create a beautiful, round finish.

Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the dense ruby/purple-hued 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Mulberry Tree is a nicely-textured, medium to full-bodied, elegant, rich, concentrated effort that emphasizes fruit as well as varietal character. It spent 18 months in neutral 300 liter French and American hogsheads. Drink it over the next 4-5 years. Bleasdale produces some of the most reliable as well as fairly priced wines from Langhorne Creek that are good choices for both neophytes and connoisseurs.

Smoky and caramelly at first, but there are also plenty of tart cherries and some herbal notes. Smooth enough in the mouth, this medium-bodied Cab finishes with dark chocolate flavors framing tangy cherry fruit. Drink now-2012.

Loaded with gobs of sweet black currant fruit, this has tremendous depth and length at a terrific price. Juicy and flavorful, yet maintaining the firm tannic structure classically associated with the grape. It always goes back to the concept that Cab is king, and when you get this quality at this price point, you jump all over it, no questions asked.

The outstanding 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Mulberry Tree is a terrific bargain. It reveals notes of spice box, cedar, black currants, and tobacco in a medium to full-bodied, dense, rich format. With sweet tannin along with well-integrated wood and acidity, this plump, fleshy, well-made Cabernet should drink well for 7-8 years. It doesn't take a genius to realize that a $15 Cabernet Sauvignon of this quality is nearly impossible to find domestically.

Ripe and distinctive for its minty cherry and spice flavors, lingering on the generous finish, deftly balanced with lively acidity. Drink now through 2008.
