Bleasdale Bremerview Shiraz(2004)

Bremerview is the name of one of Bleasdale's vineyard blocks on the banks of the Bremer River, which runs through the heartland of Langhorne Creek. Many of the vineyards surrounding this river still rely on the flooding of the Bremer River to irrigate the vines on the deep alluvial floodplain.
The summer preceding the 2004 vintage was cooler than average in Langhorne Creek. The season produced a perfect balance between all climatic factors to produce wines of an exceptional quality seen typically only once a decade.

I was hoping I'd like this more due to its price point, given that I usually agree with Parker, and he scored this a 90. The front palate of fruit blackberries and white pepper spices gave me some hope. However, the following oakiness, heat, and imbalanced acidity made this not as pleasurable to sip. There was some lingering garrigue-type tastes to this. Probably attributable to the fact I found out later on that this is a 100% shiraz - which I usually do not like, so I may be biased.

Youthful, lively Shiraz with lots of blackberries and spices along with a smooth palate of soft tannins. Food pairing: Medium-rare rack of lamb with mint sauce The outstanding 2004 Shiraz Bremerview Vineyard is a fabulous buy, offering classic Shiraz characteristics of blackberries, tar, and white flowers. Aged in neutral 300 liter American oak hogsheads for 12 months, it possesses abundant fruit, glycerin, alcohol (14.5%), and texture along with a hint of earth.
