Can Blau Celler Can Blau 2007

A Spanish classic; inky GSM (Grenach Syrah Mazuelo) blend you can chew on. I hesitate to say the 2007 is drinking really well now (Spring 2009), give it a year to mellow out and it will be as delightful as the 06.

Dark purple. Sexy aromas of blackberry, blueberry, Asian spices and smoked meat. Supple and open-knit, with sweet dark berry preserve flavors, velvety texture and good mineral bite. Manages to be both nervy and concentrated, with very good finishing clarity and cut. Leaves strong blue fruit notes behind and repeats the spicy quality. -International Wine Cellar

It is a blend of 40% Mazuelo, 40% Syrah and 20% Garnacha (Grenache). It is a full bodied wine with a luxiorious dark ruby color that gives you a strong nose of plum and blackberry. There is a great depth to the flavor with the plum and blackberry up front and a hint of spice and a nice mineral finish. When it's all said and done, there is just a touch of blackberry that lingers teasingly. This wine is ready to drink now but a little time out of the bottle won't hurt it.
