Blackwood Lane Vineyards & Winery Alliànce 2004

Member Review by lmcbain:

Alliance, is not just another Canadian attempt at producing a Bordeaux style wine; this is one of the best I have found thus far and can actually say that it is one of the best Bordeaux style reds I have found coming out of the Pacific Northwest, and Washington State is producing some fine wine in this style. Arguably a Meritage this wine is worth drinking or cellaring. I have followed the development of the wine for few years nows and have met and spoken extensively with Charles Herrold (winemaker) about his continued vision for the product. If you have not had the good fortune to try a bottle, I recommend doing so. Canadian reds are notorious for being over-priced, but this is one that arguably justifies its price based on the wine in the bottle, not just the cost of the land! The 2004 will be very difficult to get your hands on, although some may still have a few bottles around; the follow-up vintages hold the grade!
