Food Pairings for Blackstone Winery Pinot Grigio California
Lots of lush melon, apple, and straw aromas and flavors. Lush and round, but not out of balance. For those who like their PG full-bodied and aromatic.
Pale yellow with medium nose intensity. Youthful with pear, honey and white flower notes. Medium+ acidity and body with a good palate matching well with the nose in flavor. Good quality, mid-priced, ready to drink and can keep.
Blackstone Pinot Grigio presents a beautiful floral bouquet followed by delicate, yet vibrant flavors of citrus, apple, and lemon. This light, aromatic wine has a long, full finish that pairs deliciously with grilled prawns with broccoli, sushi, or seared halibut, and enjoy with friends to complete the table.
The Blackstone 2008 Winemaker Select Pinot Grigio is a blend of premium fruit sourced from high-quality winegrowing regions through out California. Following the Blackstone philosophy that various microclimates can contribute unique and complex flavors to our wines, the 2008 Pinot Grigio is a unique blend of multiple old world varietals from diverse terroirs. Carefully selected grapes from such acclaimed vineyard sites as Terra Vento, San Bernabe, Alta Loma, and Vista Verde, ensured that the wine would not only have structure and body, but also complex flavors and a crisp, delicate palate. The 2008 growing season was longer than usual, with an extended harvest. The year started out very dry and cold and bud break occurred later than usual. Thankfully, mid-May brought warmer temperatures. Despite the early heat spell, summer fluctuated between extreme highs and cooler periods. The typical Monterey coastal winds helped temper these swings, allowing grapes to achieve an optimum level of ripeness. Harvest began in early September and continued through October, ending the growing season on a high note. Mindful of both the fragility of the grapes as well as the fluctuations in the growing season, the grapes were night harvested. After pressing, the grapes underwent fermentation in 100% stainless steel, allowing the flavors to cleanly integrate. The resulting wine is crisp, clean, and well balanced. Our 2008 Blackstone Winemaker Select Pinot Grigio has a lovely palate, with bright fruit flavors and nice acidity. This pretty wine with notes of pear and lemon has a lovely full-bodied finish. Try pairing it with grilled fish, seafood pasta, or any dish with crab or fennel.
