What to Expect

Syrah: One of the few grapes to really be a global success. Syrah combines a meaty core of ripe berry fruit with tones that range from herbal to peppery in a package that tends to be medium bodied with good acidity and softer tannins. With age the wines can gain lovely leathery and black olive notes that make them a great match for savory and gamy dishes.

Editorial Reviews

This smells rather light with a nice jammy blackberry tone and sweet cinnamon sugar top notes with a suggestion of dark flowers. This is quite acidic in the mouth, searingly so with a chemical quality to the acid that is off putting. The nice fruit is hiding behind the acid and it’s accompanying raw pine resin, cleaning solution tones. The finish still shows some of this balsamic resin, but with a nice red currant fruit tone as well. This is modestly spicy and the chemical tone does blow off but the acid is just out of whack. 82pts

Reviews

Bright blueberry flavors on the nose, with just a tinge of licorice. Simple and fruity with blueberry flavors dominating. Blackberry flavors shine through as well. Very sugary and 'manufactured', but its a $10 wine, and does what it does well.

Berry, dark grape flavors on nose with delayed spice on tongue. Nice for $6. Would buy again.

blackberries, black plums, black currants= aromas of dark fruit. Very fruit forward on the palate with underlying tannins and a finish with cocoa. simple shiraz, no complexity.

Cherry and raspberry aromas with a hint of oak. Flavors are super bright, an explosion of fruit flavors, mostly cherry and cherry cough syrup, cherry cola with a hint of spice.

Nice kind of chocolaty/coconut/buttery texture, but the flavors are strangely juxtaposed with the acids, so it doesn't feel cohesive to me.
