Editorial Reviews for Black Swan Merlot
Rather candied on the nose and slightly pruney, with chocolate and black pepper top notes. Sweet on entry, this is a bit heavy with sugar, though there are some nice dried fruit flavors. It's clunky in the mouth with vanilla cream notes on the mid-palate and sweet, burnt sugar notes on the harsh finish. 70pts
nice fruit and spices on the nose....hints of licorice on the palatte with very smooth tannins and a nice long finish.
I got this as a recommendation of the supplier of the wine. I wanted to try a aussie wine. He just recommended the brand. I chose the Merlot. At first it smell was fantastic but the taste yuk. It was not as bad as the fox brook merlot but was still pretty hard to swallow. Its more finished then the fox brook but still sitting off the the side unfinished.
I haven't tasted more than about 4 merlots, but this one is nice and simple, and I like that right now! It's fruity, light, not very tannic, just silky and easy to drink. Wasn't too expensive either.
Decent stuff for the price. Nothing special.
