Black Hills Estate Red Bordeaux Blend Okanagan Valley Vqa Nota Bene 2010

Member Review by zufrieden:

This blend of 75% Sauvignon Blanc and 25% Semillon is similar in texture to a Loire Valley white of worthy provenance with just a touch of citrus that perhaps marks its Canadian pedigree. The lemon and herbal (grass) notes on the nose ring in the usual hallmarks of a white Meritage blend. A touch overly acidic on the palate for my taste, but clean and less flabby than Chilean cognates. Better than expected given a recent review by Vancouver wine columnist Tony Gismondi.

Garnet-brown in colour with medium - light intensity. Bell pepper dominateds the nose with plum, red currant and chocolate notes underneath. Well-balanced with medium body. Pleasing fruit and black pepper flavours on the palate. A medium-long finish.

I recently opened my first (of a case) of the 2008 Nota Bene and expected it to be still tight. I decanted it for about an hour and was very surprised at the flavours showing now. My wife didn't know which wine she was drinking and made favourable comments. Normally I wait a few years and expect this one to age very well
