Billecart Salmon Blanc de Blancs 95js 2004

Winemaker's Notes:

95 Points, James Suckling: "The vintage edition of Billecart's Blanc de Blancs comes from the same four villages as the NV but carries a much more savory style, showcasing plenty of pastry and chalky lees-derived oyster shell as well as a subtly spicy oak thread. Fresh almond nougat, honeyed peaches and white flowers all abound. The palate texture is striking, smooth and creamy, as peach and lemon-custard flavors run even and long. Really impeccably balanced. Handy depth and drive. Drinking very well now: in a great place." 10/16 94 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous: "The 2004 Blanc de Blancs is impressive. Brioche, white stone fruits, smoke, chamomile, honey and wild flowers all blossom in a distinctly powerful, muscular Blanc de Blancs. Layers of flavor continue to build as the wine shows off its intense personality. The 2004 is a blend of fruit from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize, Cramant and Chouilly." 7/15
