Billard-Gonnet Pommard Premier Cru Chaponnieres V.V 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

92 points and 'Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): (from 65+ year old vines). A more complex if less elegant nose features ripe, cool and admirably pure aromas of plum, earth, spice, red currant and wild dark berries. There is excellent ripeness to the supporting tannins that are firm but not hard as they shape the rich and mouth coating medium-bodied flavors that terminate in an ever-so-mildly austere and rustic finish. This wine typically ages exceptionally well and the 2011 version will need at least a decade to fully strut its stuff but it should very much be worth the wait. Drink: 2023+. (Apr 2014)
