Bieler 'Sabine' Rose Coteaux d'Aix En Provence 2017

Member Review by vin0vin0:

For the price this is a really nice French rose. Subtle cranberry, strawberry and red cherry palate with nice acidity and a medium finish. Nothing complicated but a really good summer time deck wine with great QPR.

On first sight, the packaging is elegant and regal and the juice itself pink with an orangish tinge. Notes of strawberry, raspberry, spice and minerals. The flavors are powerful, light strawberry, orange and is a bit herbaceous. This is not overly sweet but does have a small amount of acidity that balances it out. The Cabernet does give this wine a nice backbone that you normally do not find in the usually light Roses of Southern France.

Excellent value - picked this up for around $7, and it's easy drinkin' at that price. It's got nice berries on the nose and palate, with a good acidity and medium finish. Contrary to the Morrell & Company review sited here, my bottle was 70% Syrah, 30% Grenache - no Cinsault.

New 2012 vintage arrives mid-March!Coteaux d'Aix en Provence, FranceBieler Pere et Fils Ros is a delicious dry ros from Provence, now in its 8th strong vintage-and by far our top-selling ros every season! Winemaker Charles Bieler, whose family is renowned for its former ownership of Chateau Routas, launched Bieler Pere et Fils in homage to his father Philippe and named this wine for his daughter Sabine. This rich, deeply colored ros from 5 hillside vineyards of Coteaux d'Aix en Provence is Syrah-driven (55%) blended with 25% Grenache, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cinsault. This is a great wine to usher in the spring, combining the rich flavors of a red wine with the refreshing qualities of a white. It's a true wine gem! Bieler Pere et Fils Ros is soft cranberry-red in color with a gorgeous nose of raspberry, bing cherry, wild strawberry and spicy minerality. It is beautifully crisp and flavorful on the palate with medium body and notes of red berries, bing cherries, spice and no oak. The finish is long and refreshing.Enjoy Bieler Pere et Fils Ros now and over the next 2-3 years as the perfect patio aperitif wine. It matches up beautifully with salade Nicoise, roast chicken, grilled shrimp and mild cheeses.

This is a blend of 60% Syrah, 30% Grenache, and 10% Cinsault, fermented in 100% stainless steel. Bieler Pre et Fils is an homage to Charless father, Philippe, who ushered he and his sister Mira into the wine business in the mid-1990s. This particular bottling was named after Charless daughter, Sabine, who was born in 2005, the same year this special ros was first created. The wine is the perfect expression of Provencal ros, with floral and red berry flavors, a lively acidity and easy texture.
