Bibi Graetz "Casamatta" Toscana Rosso 2011
Editorial Reviews for Bibi Graetz "Casamatta" Toscana Rosso
100% Sangiovese A touch reduced on the nose but showing a fine array of dark fruits, wild herbs with a medicinal touch, dried flowers, red soil notes and fine dusky Tuscan spice notes with a lovely suggestion of white mushroom adding freshness. Rch and almost chewy on entry, there’s a nice base of tannin and acid here supporting the rich fruit but not really sticking out though the acid impression does grow in the mouth. the fruit is a bit towards the dark end for sangiovese with preserved wild strawberry and dark cherry flavors all wrapped up in earthy spice and savory herbal accents. There’s a lot going on here and it’s rather attractive with a blend of fruit and savory flavors but the wine does drop off a bit on the finish when the tannins finally take control. This needs food but is a pretty sophisticated choice at this price point. 87pts
Four and a half glasses
Oh wow a low-dollar winner winner. Very luscious on the tongue. Then you get some nice berry and even some stone fruit flavors. Then you get the Tuscan acid that I love so much. Interestingly enough, I don't see this a a spaghetti-with-red-sauce accompaniment. I would go with cheeses with sliced apples or pears. US$7.97 at Costco in Chino Hills.
My rating 89 : Nice firm restrained Toscan with long elegant nose. Nose has some staying power even a day later

A beautiful label for a beautiful Sangiovese that wont break your bank. What more can you ask for?
Notes of blackberry and black cherry are accented by tobacco and spice in this concentrated red, which is fresh and lively, with a firm finish. Drink now through 2014.
The 2011 Casamatta Rosso is an attractive, juicy wine bursting with sweet red berries, flowers, licorice, mint and spices. It shows lovely body and depth in a fresh, vinous style best suited for near-term drinking. Aging should not be a problem, as I imagine most bottles will be long gone by the time that is an issue. The Casamatta Rosso is a terrific value, too. Anticipated maturity: 2012andndash;2014.
