Bevan Cellars Merlot Oakville Alexis' Cuvée Showket Vineyards 2008
Here we go! Invite your friends over and start pouring. We have yet to present a glass of this wine to a person without eliciting a “Wow.” Chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate. And we’re not talking about milk chocolate, we’re talking deep dark chocolate, the kind you’d pair with a raspberry reduction sauce. With all the round, supple, sexy textures you could want from a Merlot, it conveys pure pleasure and yet remains a serious wine.
I would put this wine on the short list of best merlots out there today. Deep, unctuous texture, explosive blackberry fruit, whispers of vanilla oak, oh and I think someone might of thrown a bar of high quality dark chocolate into the barrel while no one was looking because there's chocolate and more chocolate in this wine. Absolutely wonderful!

"The 2008 Merlot Showket Vineyard Alexis’s Cuvee offers a great introduction to how good Merlot can be. Aromas of chocolate, black currants, black cherries and forest floor jump from the glass of this fleshy, opaque ruby/purple-colored Merlot. Deep, chewy and succulent, it is both a hedonistic and intellectual thrill-a-sip. Drink it over the next 10-12 years...93" WA 12/10
