Betz Family Syrah Red Mountain la Cote Rousse 2013

Winemaker's Notes:

95+ points Jeb Dunnuck (Wine Advocate): Much more mineral driven... the 2013 Syrah la Cote Rousse comes all from Red Mountain and is always 100% Syrah... Exhibiting lots of blackberry, black raspberry, graphite, smoke and crushed rock, it's beautifully concentrated, has top-notch purity of fruit and a great finish. I love its mid-palate density, and while it has a lot of tannins, they're nicely integrated into the body of the wine... It should be one of the longest- ived Syrahs in the vintage. 2018-2033. (Aug 2015)

In our first vintage we produced about 150 cases total; and we leveled out at 3500 cases a few years ago. We've limited ourselves to a quantity we can watch over, in the vineyard and the cellar. By working with selected, dedicated grape growers and employing methods that we believe craft superior wine, we hope to create wines of individual character, a blend of richness, balance and pleasure. Our winemaking focuses on the purity of the individual varieties and the vineyards they come from. We do those things that a small winery has the luxury of doing: we know every barrel. Read less
