Best Italian Whites Taster Six Pack

Winemaker's Notes:

Italy has gorgeous whites, many of them little known. Here are six terrific choices. SAN GIOVANNI LUGANA, TURBIANA, LOMBARDY, 2010 BEAUTIFULLY BALANCED The Il Lugana is anything but your typical Trebbiano. Beautifully balanced with a generous accent of acacia and honeycomb on the nose, its fresh, clean and bright with a spark of flinty minerality and a drawn-out finish. Pairs well with seafood. IL FEUDUCCIO PECORINO ABRUZZI 2009 Not your everyday Italian white, Pecorino has excellent acidity, ripe fruit and great balance with subtle aromas of herbs, wild flowers and juicy lime citrus that melds into faint licorice and honey flavors offset by a pleasingly tart finish. LIVIO FELLUGA SAUVIGNON BLANC, COLLIO 2010 JAMES SUCKLING 91 PTS A wine with loads of grapefruit and apricot character with hints of minerals. Full bodied, with fresh acidity and a tangy finish. Dried tropical fruits! SANTA MAGDALENA PINOT GRIGIO, ALTO ADIGE 2010 A MORRELL DISCOVERY Captivating and delicious. Aromas of apricot with a touch of honey and a dash of minerality lead to a full, round, rich palate with a long satisfying finish. ANTINORI GUADO AL TASSO VERMENTINO BOLGHERI 2010 JAMES SUCKLING 90 PTS Sliced apple and tart lemons. Full body, with good fruit and a lemony finish, with hints of minerals, pears, and sage. SILVIO JERMANN CHARDONNAY VENEZIA-GIULIA 2009 JAMES SUCKLING 90 POINTS A delicious white with apple pie, honey, mangos and hints of other tropical fruits. Full body, with bright acidity and a rich and delicious finish. All here.

For over 140 years, Best’s has continuously been producing wine in the Great Western wine region of Victoria. We are one of Australia’s oldest continuously family owned and operated wineries and have some of the oldest vines in Australia, producing extraordinary wines with great longevity. Our flagship wine, Thomson Family Shiraz has been recognised as Outstanding by Australia’s premiere wine auction house Langton’s. Only two families have owned Best’s since it was founded: Wines were first made by the Best family in 1866 and then we bought it from the Best Family in 1920. The fifth generation of Thomson is now running the winery. We strive to make great wines with a strong sense of history and place. Our wines are elegant, refined and a great accompaniment to food. We hope you discover our Best Kept Secrets by trying our wines. Read less
