This is a blend of 85% Syrah and 15% Garnacha. The wine has 13.5% alcohol by volume and the bottle is sealed with a twist off closure. The wine is a medium ruby red color. The intriguing nose has cherries, minerals, white pepper, blackberries, licorice and dried violets. This is barely medium body with moderate tannins and crisp acidity. On the palate tart cherries and minerals jump out first with licorice and a floral note coming in later. The finish has decent length with a cranberry note joining the show. This needs some food to help keep the acidity in check. (88 pts)

This Aragonese (Cariñena DO) wine is predominantly Syrah with coffee, cherry cola and bright (soda fountain) red fruit on nose. If left to breath a bit (say 30 minutes), the ambiguous flavors on entry are mitigated substantially. Good balance and purity though little grip at this point. Still, at this price point a very decent bargain indeed! Sort of Oz without the alcohol afterburner. 86 points.

Very difficult to drink. Flavors were all muddy. Stringent. Tastes like wine you would be handed at a party, take a sip and then desperately look for someplace to lose the rest of the glass.

Full bodied, deep garnet and lively tannins! Best if decanted for a few hours. Not sure that I agree with the 90 point declaration on the bottle. The number 88 came to mine. Just saying.

It's really nice considering its availability and price. At first though, I started tasting it while it was still at that almost room temperature sort of chilled, the way one would normally enjoy a hearty red wine. However that didn't go to well so I put it in the fridge and let it be for a while. After tasting it chilled is when I saw how it got its 90 pts. Just because it has no cork doesn't mean its not good. (I think the reason it doesn't have one is so it can be served in air planes)

The 2009 Beso de Vino Seleccion is a blend of 85% Syrah and 15% Garnacha aged for 3 months in French oak. Black cherry and blueberry aromas lead to a dense, plush, savory wine which finishes with no hard edges. It is shockingly good for the money. Grandes Vinos y Vinedosandrsquo; collection is replete with stunning values.

Vivid ruby. Spicy, high-pitched red fruits on the precise nose. Juicy, open-knit raspberry and bitter cherry flavors pick up cracked pepper and licorice notes with air. Finishes with delicate tannins, good breadth and length, and a repeating licorice note.

Winemaker's Notes:

90 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): (85% syrah and 15% garnacha, aged for three months in French oak): Opaque purple. Intensely perfumed aromas of cherry and blackberry are brightened by zesty minerality and a subtle peppery quality. Lively red and dark fruits on the palate, with black pepper and licorice nuances emerging with air. Sappy and strikingly intense for the price, finishing with excellent persistence and gentle tannic grip. (Sep 2012)
