Bertani Villa Novare Valpolicella 2007

External Review by Premier Wine & Spirits:

Dusty cherry and leather aromas come first, followed by chocolate and wood spice. Plum and cherry fruit make for a fine flavor profile, while the finish is touched up by just a hint of oak and some proper bitterness. Substantive yet smooth, with good balance throughout.

Initially this wine possesses a deep garnet color with a bouquet of walnut and spice. The flavors that ensue are pleasantly bitterish with hints of ripe berry. Plums, raisins and warm black fruits are just a few of the wonderful qualities that you can expect from this wine.

Bertani's Valpolicella is aged in Amarone casks, a technique known as Ripasso. The result is a youthful, spicy, dark colored wine with hints of the mature charm and soft, elegant texture you could find in wines three or four times the price.

Black and meaty, this tannin Valpolicella comes to a hard edge, then softens in the finish. The meaty tannins will enrich a meat-sauced pasta.

The 2006 Valpolicella Ripasso Valpantea is a soft, easy-going wine with notes of flowers, red berries and spices. This feminine Valpolicella is best enjoyed over the next few years. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2010.
