Bertani Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico Superiore 2003
The wine is a deep garnet red color. The classical cherry flavors are immediately perceptible to the nose, with the preponderant notes of marasca and plum. The wine presents a great variety of characters: dry fruit, leaf of the, liquorice and spice. The wine opens up in the mouth with all the red-berry fruits, besides vanilla in soft, heavy-duty cloth.

The 2003 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is a big, enveloping wine loaded with wild cherries, licorice, new leather and dried flowers, not to mention considerable personality. Ideally the wine is best paired with hearty dishes.
Bertani, which just recently celebrated its 150th anniversary, was founded in 1857 by brothers Gaetano and Giovan Battista Bertani. Prosperous wine merchants who believed that quality winemaking held the key to the future, the Bertanis invested their funds in buying some of the finest vineyards in the province and making their own wines. Consequently, unlike many other local producers, Bertani owns its own vineyards and so is able to oversee the entire winemaking cycle from start to finish and their wines are considered some of the absolute best in the region. This 2003 scored 93 point in Wine Enthusiast Magazine who said "Fragrant and intense, Bertani’s 2003 Amarone delivers enticing aromas of spice, cola, mature berry fruit and smoke. You’ll feel power in the mouth—although the wine’s alcohol is beautifully integrated—and a long, satisfying finish." Limited!
