What to Expect

Zinfandel is considered America's own great indigenous grape, even though its origins lie on the Adriatic coast. Planted throughout California and the Pacific Northwest, Zinfandel is at its best in warm regions with cooler temperatures during harvest. The wines can range from off-dry Rosés, White Zinfandels, and light bistro styled wines, to big, rich powerful wines - even luscious wines for dessert bottling. The flavors range from plummy to raspberry, although deep blackberry fruit and brambly spice tones are most common.

Editorial Reviews

Rather pale color, smells explosively alcoholic yet light and fragrant, quite volatile, with a nice cocoa and earth edge to the golden raspberry fruit with a very fresh, estery note and some chalky notes - Packed with sweet fruit upfront and a touch of nori, really bright fruit here with some RS backing it up, melon rind and herb notes add complexity and freshness, it burns a bit but still has a crispness that is appealing. A fruit bomb for those not interested in fruit bombs though it is decidedly defective yet strangely appealing with a long finish with cutting acids and small stiff tannins. Weird read more...

Reviews

Reserved candy berry, rose, and bell pepper notes on the nose. The wine is initially smooth in the mouth but lacking bright acidity, black tea fruit; it has a hot, woody finish.
