What to Expect

Petite Sirah is one of a group of grapes that took to a new home - in this case California - after moving from the relative obscurity enjoyed at its birthplace - France in this case - where it is called Duriff. While never particularly elegant nor subtle, Petite Sirah can produce large-scaled, intense wines with bright flavors of blue and plummy fruits, rich with earthy tannins.

Editorial Reviews

Wonderfuly vinous and spicy with a licorice tone and a touch of VA adding lift. The fruit has a slightly tropical tone and nicely integrated oak and mocha notes with a really fine cherry backdrop and a hint of beach sand. Bright and super juicy with black grapey and plum fruit that is rich yet light on the palate. Modest tannins add some body here and there is a lovely toasted sunflower seed tone in the background. Finishes with spicy freshness and a bit of peachy fruit. Lots of fun. 90pts

Reviews

Deep ripe blackberry and black pepper nose with an extremely juicy aroma. Palate is beautifully spicy, with loads of blackberry fruit and leather, finishes rough and raw and covered with tar.

A bit of banana and walnuts, laden with paprika. Kind of spicy and tannic on the attack, makes for a very enjoyable gulp. Couldn't drink a lot of it though.
