External Reviews for Beringer Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley Founders' Estate
The tasty, richly fruity effort displays notes of melons and pears. Enjoy it over the next year.
Cardamom, lemon, melon, and quince flavors have a honeyed character, picking up lush caramel and fig notes that linger through the finish. Very good inexpensive summer quaffer. Drink now.
Bright aromas of pineapple and grapefruit. Juicy, ripe and fruit driven, with a note of crystalized pineapple. Not complex but offers good verve and sweetness.
A knock-out value (and I'm sure discounters have it priced well under $10) is the 2002 Sauvignon Blanc, a blend of 84% Sauvignon and 16% Semillon. Revealing pure tropical fruit characteristics along with waxy notes of melons and figs, it is a medium-bodied, lively, fleshy white. It is best consumed over the next 1-2 years.
Tangy acidity is the star here. It gives structure and backbone to the lemon, lime, pineapple and fig flavors, and makes the wine a great cocktail sipper.
Subdues aromas of peach and tropical fruits, with a leesy nuance. Juicy but rather easygoing for this wine, with good ripeness and modest cut. Softened by the addition of some Sèmillon.
Winemaker's Notes:
The Sauvignon Blanc has wonderful grapefruit, guava and melon aromas that lead into citrus and melon flavors. There's a slight grassy backnote with a hint of honey and a balanced acidity that leads into to a citrus finish.
