Beringer Vineyards Chenin Blanc California 2010
The long, warm days and cool nights of California's vineyards provide the ideal growing temperatures for Beringer's Chenin Blanc. Daytime sun encourages the fruit to ripen, developing soft peach and ginger-honey flavors, while the fog-shrouded evenings bring forward crisp citrus and mineral notes.
RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.
Enjoyable but a bit acidic for my taste. Sour fruitiness with strong notes of grapefruit.
Maybe my palate isn't trained fully yet, but I don't detect the citrus in this wine. I do with the melon and the ginger though. This seems like a wine that would go well with just about any meal and is very smooth. I am susceptible to the effects of acidic food/beverages, and while there is a bit of acidity to this wine, it doesn't seem to be overpowering. I still haven't found a wine I like more than a good Riesling, but I would definitely put this near the top of my list.
