Editorial Reviews for Beringer Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain Steinhauer Ranch
Vanilla cream with toasted nut meat and floral nuances top mocha-inflected, huge, creamy blueberry and black cherry fruit on the imposing, upright and intense fruit-driven nose. There’s plenty of lightly toasty, smoky oak nuance as well, but they sit in the background. This shows impressive pinpoint focus on the palate and is very smooth and opulent without being weighty. There’s a great firmness to this without any tannins poking out of the deep, slightly earth-tinged, creamy dark fruit that shows hints of coffee and tobacco on the palate. The tannins do pop out of the creamy fruit on the back end, along with spice and a little hint of tartness, revealing the firmness of the acid. This is just a seductive wine with super fine depth and exceptional polish. 94 points
User Reviews for Beringer Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain Steinhauer Ranch
Add your reviewWonderful bright tropical fruit on this chardonnay. Dominant banana and other tropical flavors, bright acidity that dances around on your palate. Lively and well balanced. Very tasty.
Hey, pretty decent for the price. Served in a hotel lobby to passers by, i wasnt expecting much. Having said that it was a solid california chardonnay: super oaky, spicy, with some spice (from the oak). Not a lot of fruit, but what do you expect for the price?
Past it's time unless cellared all along. Gold leaning to toffee in the glass. Roasted caramel flavors are all that remains. Drink now or make salad dressing.
At first I felt this chardonnay was over oaked. After some time to breathe in the glass and once the bottle was open a bit, it relaxed a bit. All in all, a very woody, vanilla nose. Nice bright tropical fruit like pineapple on the palate where the oak accents. 14.8%, so it's a nice dry chardonnay without being flabby in any one area.

Beringer Vineyards holds the distinction of being the oldest continuously operating winery in the Napa Valley. It is also one of the very few wineries that survived the draconian prohibition of 1922, which lasted over a decade. The estate is also in the National Register for Historic Places as a historic district, a status it has held since 2001.
Aromas of cherry, anise and cocoa are followed by abundant flavors of dark cherry and a hint of spice. The soft, mouth-coating tannins are highlighted by the blend's juicy fruit core. - Winery ** SOLD OUT **
Bright tropical fruit and citrus aromas lead to mouth-filling flavors of apples and pears. Malolactic fermentation and barrel aging contribute to a soft creaminess and long finish that complements grilled fish and linguine with garlic-basil pesto.
Pretty, with ripe pear, cantaloupe and honeydew melon flavors and a juicy edge of lime. Drink now.
Displays rich citrus aromas with luscious apple and pear flavors that linger in a delicate and soft finish.
Bright yellow. Grape and pineapple fruit aromas are enlivened by floral lift and solid minerality. Broad, dense, ripe and sweet, with a chewy, saline quality and some smoky oak notes contributing to this wine's impressively tactile mouth feel. Finishes long, ripe and sweet, with stone and citrus fruit flavors and solid underlying structure.
Winemaker's Notes:
91 points Wine Spectator: A lot of Cabernet at this price. Combines ripe, plump, plum, black cherry and black berry flavors in a rich, smooth, polished style, full bodied and firming nicely on the finish, where the tannins have a minerally edge. Drink now through 2021. (Dec 2011) 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot.
