The 2006 Chardonnay Private Reserve is not nearly as oaky and caramelized as previous examples of this cuvee. It is a much more elegantly-styled white with a nicely delineated nose of peach blossoms, honeysuckle, apple skins, and brioche. Full-bodied with beautiful purity as well as a long, harmonious finish, it can be enjoyed over the next 2-3 years.
A big offering, the full-bodied 2005 Chardonnay Private Reserve reveals notions of hazelnuts intermixed with honeyed pineapple, poached pears, and toasty oak. Well-made with good acidity, beautiful richness, and a vibrant, long finish, it should drink well for 4-5 years.
Elegant, rich and complex, with supple layers of ripe pear, apple, melon and appealing ginger spice notes that unfold gracefully and end with a succulent array of flavors, polish and finesse. Drink now through 2010.
Bright, pale yellow. Sexy aromas of musky pineapple, citrus rind and honey. Rich, broad and ripe, with nutty stone fruit, vanilla and hazelnut flavors complicated by a mineral component and a suggestion of exotic fruits.
A very nice Chardonnay that defines the modern, ripe style, Beringer's '06 is rich in pineapple, green apple, grilled peach and smoked new oak flavors. The honeyed taste is balanced with vital acidity that makes the wine finish clean.
Smoky, toasty oak aromas show riper, richer fruit flavors on the palate, with ripe fig, melon, apricot and spice nuances. The flavors turn delicate and complex on the finish. Drink now through 2010.
Rich and unctuous, with ripe, intense smoked pineapple, toasted cumin, hazelnut and nutmeg. Finishes with a solid dose of oak, but it holds together nicely. Drink now.
91 points Wine Spectator: A lot of Cabernet at this price. Combines ripe, plump, plum, black cherry and black berry flavors in a rich, smooth, polished style, full bodied and firming nicely on the finish, where the tannins have a minerally edge. Drink now through 2021. (Dec 2011) 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot.
