What to Expect

Chardonnay is America's most popular grape and with good reason. Made in styles that range from steely, mineral laced wines with crisp green apple fruit to wines that are buttery, rich, and laden with tropical fruits, there is a Chardonnay that will appeal to every palate. Chardonnay is most closely associated with France's Burgundy region and California's Northern valleys though it has proven successful around the globe.

Winemakers Notes

A blend of Beringer’s northernmost Chardonnay vineyards – this chardonnay is a mixture of the most expressive lots and blended to create an intensely aromatic and flavorful wine featuring citrus, tropical notes of fresh pineapple and mango, crème brulée, brown spice and butterscotch that come together for a seamlessly long, plush finish. This wine is truly the chardonnay lover’s chardonnay!

One of these vineyards,Gamble Ranch, consistently provides flavors that Winemaster Ed Sbragia callsunctuous, read more...

Generally I really like Beringer Chards. Perhaps a matter of personal preference but I find the fruit overshadowed by the oak and butter in the Sbragia Limited Release (partial malolactic fermentation?). I definitely prefer the "regular" Limited Release Beringer, which I would normally rate 5 stars. This would be 4 stars except it is too darn expensive so there is a value for money component to my rating.
