Food Pairings for Beringer Private Reserve Cabernet
Last night we went to the Hollywood Bowl. The the al fresco environment pretty much defeated the nose for me. However, the first sip was pay dirt. Very rich and fruit forward--citrus as much as anything--nice acid that made it a very good food wine. The Bowl's real raison d' etre is, of course, to give provide a terrific picnic environment. Last night we had tomato/goat cheese tart, chilled grilled salmon, broccoli slaw, bacon laced potato salad, assorted cheeses and this was our white wine. I look forward to my next bottle. $26.99 about a year ago. BTW, the concert was great--L.A. Phil conducted by the Dude with Zuckerman doing the Bruch G Minor concerto.

Quaffing wine - with fish, pork or a late Spring Saturday afternoon. This is certainly NOT a tradtional French thing and that's just fine - it's bright, a little acidic, balanced and refreshing. I plan to make three or four really big cork board one day!
A beautiful California style chardonnay--I do not think there are any better at this price. Some may not find this much oak attractive, but there is ample fruit to balance it and lend complexity on the nose and palate.
Ok so I have never really had much wines but I'm trying them out. Although this wine I didn't like, and we never finished the bottle. Maybe I'll try it again after I try more kinds.

Your basic inexpensive California Chard: fruity, creamy and light, with pleasant peach, pineapple and apricot flavors finished with a touch of spicy oak.
Appealing for its supple and easygoing flavors and tasty sweet pear and spicy tropical fruit. Drink now.
Displays rich citrus aromas with luscious apple and pear flavors that linger in a delicate and soft finish.
The 2004 Chardonnay Private Reserve is a surprisingly tightly knit Chardonnay by Beringer's standards, with notes of lemon oil, orange blossom, apple pie, and brioche in a full-bodied style with some tropical fruit but good underlying acidity and fleshy texture. It seems that Sbragia has cut back on the oak, and the wine shows more of a steely minerality than in the past. It is still a big, relatively extroverted Chardonnay to consume over the next 2-3 years.
A sweet, soft, pineapple scented Chardonnay, this delivers the right balance of flavors for chicken satay with peanut sauce.
Serve this clean and simple Chardonnay as an apèritif, chilled to focus the mild, buttery oak and green, lemony fruit flavors.
To impart highlights of vanilla, caramel and nutmeg, Ron barrel fermented and aged 70 percent of the Chardonnay in French and American oak barrels (20 percent new) for eight months. Fermenting the remainder in stainless steel maintained a bright, fresh fruit balance. The resulting wine has ripe pear and pineapple, and mango flavors highlighted by citrus, Granny Smith apple and hints of baking spices.
94 points Robert Parker: The 2008 Chardonnay Private Reserve continues the success Beringer has enjoyed with this program. Notes of brioche, hazelnut, marmalade, honeyed tropical fruits, buttered citrus, and a gentle touch of smoke are found in this full-bodied, concen- trated wine with impressive purity, depth, and length. It should drink well for 4-5 years.
