Beringer Found.cab-merlot 2006
The 2006 Napa Valley Merlot is an aromatic inviting wine from the start This wine is brimming with plum blackberry and sweet vanilla aromas The flavors are equally rich black cherry bittersweet chocolate and a hint of smoke The tannins are dense and the finish is supple despite the heft and complexity of the wine overall
Intense dark fruity hasselnut nose. Again nice round body with long finish mouth. No bitternes here. Good choice for on the budget Merlot.
Tastes like cheap table wine, which is actually better than I expected. There are no detectable nuances in the mouth. I picked this up for my blog as an example of something bad - but I'm almost mildly impresed. Just like merlot should be - easy to drink. Still, it's really nothing special. Harsh after an hour of decanting.
As hard as this is to come by, Beringer does a wonderful job. Deliciously light. Perfect compromise for a white and red wine drinker.
Smooth flavor. Friends that normally do not like a red wine have enjoyed this one chilled while on the beach.

Rating: 85/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the November 2010 issue. Fairly ripe but not boldly fruity in its candied red cherry aromas, this one sports a slight woodsy note as well. It is more full in body than it is full in character, but it is not entirely lacking in that oh-so important attribute, and if not a wine that wins commendation, it is a useful offering nonetheless, and becomes especially worth remembering if you see it at discount. We found ours for $16 in the Bay Area.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Drinkable now. Unlikely to improve with further aging.

Another Howell Mountain cuvee, the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Bancroft Ranch possesses copious amounts of minerality along with chocolate, black currant, black cherry, and dusty, loamy soil notes, and a medium-bodied, moderately tannic finish.

Chocolate, berry, bay leaf, and forest floor notes emerge from the 2006 Merlot Bancroft Ranch, a more concentrated, bigger-framed, denser wine with more obvious oak. It needs 1-2 years of bottle age to shed some of its tannin. It should last for 15 y... Robert Parkers Wine Advocate. A Merlot wine from California in USA. 2006 Beringer Merlot Bancroft Ranch 750ml
