Bergerac Rouge Chateau Monestier la Tour 90swj 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

"The deep color confirms a rich concentration. The nose expresses fruity aromas (blackcurrants, wood strawberries, redcurrant) and spices. The wine is very charmed and rounded, it expresses itself with ripe and silky tannins with an elegant aftertaste which testifies a well controlled maturation in barrels..." Winemaker's note "Comprised of 65% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 15% Malbec. Purple-ruby. This full-bodied blend from south-west France offers great value for the quality. Yeasty notes of baked bread and freshly crushed blackberries lead to a clean, round, pleasantly juicy wine on the tongue. Copious amounts of black fruit flavors soak the tongue with a hint of pepper on the finish adding a touch of complexity...90" SWJ 08/12

The façade was rebuilt in the 17th century and the tower in the 19th century, according to Voillet Le Duc. History is just an eternal re-beginning! The vineyard is made up of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec for the red wine; and Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle for the white. The vines are cultivated with the utmost respect for their eco-system. The soil is ploughed so as to favour the natural development of flora and fauna. Adopting a largely hands-off approach to vine-growing, we allow the vines to express themselves so that the grapes can display the whole character of their remarkable terroir. Read less
