User Reviews for Benziger Family Winery Syrah California

Winemaker's Notes:

VINTAGE 2004 RELEASE DATE May 2007 AVAILABLIITY Winery Only CASE PRODUCTION 485 VINEYARD Stone Farm Vineyard Certified Organic APPELLATION Sonoma Valley VINEYARD: Syrah and other hearty red varietals thrive in the rocky loam soil of Stone Farm Vineyard; as the vines expend most of their energy to yearn deep into the ground for water the vigor of the vine is held at bay. The warm Glen Ellen location allows our Syrah to grow to full maturity while maintaining a desirable low yield. VINIFICATION: Grapes from separate blocks were harvested and fermented in small closed top fermentors. The lots were cold soaked for five days and left on the skins for 16 days. The lots were aged in French oak for 14 months and bottled in May 2006. Alcohol 14.5%, pH 3.78, Total Acidity .60. 485 cases produced.
