Very deep and complex aromas of Bing cherries, graham cracker pie crust, mushrooms and blackberries just leap from the glass. In the mouth blueberries, red raspberries and baked strawberries are ripe and viscous. This is a wine of tremendous depth and nuance.

The Benton-Lane 2010 Pinot Noir Estate — bottled already in August, 2011 — displays attractively sweet and juicy blueberry and cherry tinged with vanilla. Its relatively simple mid-palate sweetness however gives way to a rather hard, graceless finish. I imagine this will remain in good health for several years, and perhaps will even develop some textural tenderness and further complexity.

Winemaker's Notes:

This brilliantly ruby tinted wine has classic aromas of cherries, red currants and raspberries with more subtle hints of baking spice and vanilla layered in. On the palate, it exhibits lithe fruitiness and lingering cherry and berry flavors. The wine shows extraordinary balance and finesse with fine grained tannins that provide a nice framework to the silky mid-palate.
